Thermal coal is used for power and heat generation. In electricity generation, thermal coal is ground to a powder and fired into a boiler to produce heat, which in turn converts water into steam that is kept at extremely high pressures and elevated temperatures throughout to enhance efficiency of the coal plant. The steam powers a turbine coupled to an alternator to rotate at high speed in a magnetic field, which generates electricity for the power grid.
Availability of coal in abundance and comparatively lower cost for coal generated power plants drives the demand for thermal coal.
We can supply a wide range of niche coal products suitably tailored to maximize electrical output per actual unit of coal consumed while at the same time aiming at optimization of clients’ power plants performance and environmental compliance.
Berium mainly focuses on low ash, low sulphur, low phosphorous and low carbonate coals.
